80 Flee Fire: About 80 people were evacuated from an Orange County Social Services building at noon Monday after a basement fire burned county records and sent smoke spiraling through two upper floors, a Santa Ana fire official said. Battalion Chief Jim Dalton said the fire caused $2,000 in damage and also destroyed boxed records kept in the basement of the building at 601 N. Ross St. No injuries were reported. The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
