A Los Angeles police officer assisting in a drug raid on a Van Nuys house this morning was accidentally shot by another officer who was firing at an attack dog that charged them, police said. Detective Ronald Michelle received a minor wound when he was shot in the thigh by Officer Larry Skiba, Lt. Charles Higbie said.
Skiba also shot and wounded the dog, a Rottweiler, that bit Michelle’s leg as the two officers forcibly entered a house in the 15700 block of Saticoy Street. Michelle was expected to be discharged from the hospital later today, Higbie said. A pound of cocaine was confiscated from the house during the 7 a.m. raid, and two occupants were arrested.
