Officers Shoot, Kill Sniper

A man with a shotgun who tried to fend off police from a rooftop in Bell Gardens was shot to death this morning by officers who were called to the scene after the man fired shots at three people inside the home in the 6600 block of Ira Street.

The unidentified man had fired shots during an argument with another man and two women, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department spokesman Deputy Drew Basey said. When Bell Gardens and Bell-Cudahy police arrived and ordered the man to surrender, he retreated to the rooftop, Basey said. “After taking cover behind their cars, officers were confronted by the shotgun-wielding suspect,” he said. “Officers fired at the suspect . . . killing him.”
