Santa Ana : Man Hurt When Hit While Changing Tire
A 23 year-old Santa Ana man who was struck by a motorcycle as he changed a tire alongside the Costa Mesa Freeway remained hospitalized in stable condition Wednesday.
The California Highway Patrol said James Motley suffered major injuries when he was struck on the freeway shoulder north of Edinger Avenue about 2:15 p.m. Tuesday.
Officers said a motorcyclist apparently had pulled on to the shoulder to pass several cars and struck Motley. The cycle rider then fled the scene.
Damian G. Mateo, 22, of Costa Mesa was arrested a short time later on suspicion of felony hit-and-run and driving under the influence, and was booked into Orange County Jail.
