College Volleyball : San Diego State Sweeps Chapman Men

San Diego State defeated Chapman College Wednesday night in men’s nonconference volleyball, 15-2, 15-9, 15-8, at San Diego. Chapman’s Ben Schmidt had nine kills and Erich Schlitz had six service aces.

In community college action:

Golden West 3, Long Beach City 2--The Rustlers nearly let the win slip away but came out fast in the fifth game to close out a 15-7, 15-4, 14-16, 11-15, 15-7 win in Huntington Beach. Golden West led, 9-1, in the third game before defending state champion Long Beach began its comeback.

Steve Conti had 16 kills and Todd Bates had 14 for the Rustlers (7-4, 9-4).
