Alan Pollard, a 6-9 forward from Brigham Young, confirmed Thursday that he plans to transfer to USC along with his brother, 7-2 Carl Pollard.

Alan, a sophomore who averaged 25 minutes a game last season off the bench, will have two years of eligibility remaining after redshirting next season.

Carl, who played in 10 games for BYU as a freshman in 1983-84, will be eligible immediately. He was redshirted in 1984-85 and will be coming off a two-year Mormon mission in July.

“I’m leaving BYU with no bitterness,” Alan said Thursday from his home in Orem, Utah. “Things haven’t worked out here, and now there is an opportunity for a change.”

Alan averaged 6.6 points and 6.3 rebounds while shooting 41.9% from the field last season.

USC doesn’t have any basketball scholarships available now, but some are expected to open by the time school resumes in the fall.
