Women Share Identical Luck on ‘Big Spin’
Three Orange County women each won $100,000 Saturday in the California Lottery’s “Big Spin” in Sacramento.
The three, all married and each the mother of two children, are Dreama Baur of Newport Beach, Sally McLaughlin of Fullerton and Elisa Robles of Santa Ana.
“I had a lucky charm bracelet from a friend,” Baur said in a telephone interview. “I’m really excited about now,” she said, moments after winning.
For McLaughlin, Saturday’s was not her first big win. Previously, she said, she had two $1,000 instant winners and one for $100.
Robles’ winning ticket that qualified her for the drawing was a gift from her husband, she said, although she also buys them herself. Until Saturday, she said, “I never won anything, not even $2.”
Neither Baur nor Robles has firm plans as to how they will spend their winnings, which, after taxes, come to $80,000 each. McLaughlin said she plans to use some of her winnings to help her mother, who suffers from Alzheimer’s disease.
