Two juveniles are to be sentenced April 25 for their parts in the January gang rape of a 26-year-old South Los Angeles woman who was thrown into a dumpster and left to die when an old Christmas tree was tossed on top of her and set afire. The victim survived, but was so severely burned that her left arm, left foot and right breast had to be amputated. One of the boys, 13 at the time of the incident, pleaded guilty in Juvenile Court to one count of rape in concert. A 15-year-old co-defendant was convicted of mayhem, oral copulation, forcible rape in concert, arson, kidnaping, false imprisonment and attempted murder.
