A fire at the 74-year-old Blue Beet Bar and Restaurant, near Balboa Peninsula, has destroyed one of the oldest establishments in Orange County. No one was injured in the blaze, and the cause is yet to be determined. Building owner Sid Soffer said the Blue Beet was one of the last places in California to abolish slot machines and other gambling in the early 1950s.
