Officers responding to a traffic accident found the driver struggling with a nude and hysterical woman he had allegedly kidnaped and tried to rape, Los Angeles police said. The woman told police she had accepted help from the man when her car stalled at 43rd Street and Ascot Avenue, Lt. Dan Cooke said. Officers found her nude in the passenger seat of the man’s car, which had crashed into a lamppost near the downtown Convention Center shortly before 3 a.m., Cooke said. The woman was hospitalized with a broken pelvis, he said. Gregory Womak, 25, allegedly threatened the woman with a gun, firing several shots through the roof of the car before it crashed, Cooke said. Womak was booked on suspicion of kidnaping and held in the jail ward of County-USC Medical Center, where he was being treated for minor injuries.
