Gary Hinton of Philadelphia won the vacant International Boxing Federation junior-welterweight title with a 15-round unanimous decision over Antonio Reyes Cruz of the Dominican Republic at Lucca, Italy.
Hinton, 139, improved his record to 25-2-2. Reyes, 140, dropped to 16-1.
Hinton lost a 15-round decision in March of 1985 to then-champion Aaron Pryor, who was stripped of the title for failing to make a defense within the time limit under IBF regulations.
