Orange County Prep Baseball : Haack Pitches 1-Hitter in 5-3 Win
Andy Lewin’s single in the seventh inning drove in two runs and broke a 3-3 tie to give Huntington Beach High School a 5-3 Sunset League win over Marina Saturday at Marina.
Jeff Haack (8-2) pitched a one-hit complete game, but Haack’s wildness and an error in the third inning gave the Vikings their three runs.
After two walks and a single to center by Rick Vanderhiet, Haack walked in one run. A throwing error on a ground ball scored two more runs for Marina.
Lewin also drove in a run in the first and finished the day 2 for 4 with three RBIs.
Jimmy Dedrick had a first-inning two-run single for the Oilers (6-5, 11-9). The Vikings are 5-6 and 9-11.
In Angelus League action:
Servite 6, Pius X 1--Mike Petko and Jason Rolish each hit home runs for the Friars at Pius X. Rolish had two hits and two RBIs, and Chris Ulmer had a double and an RBI for first-place Servite (9-2, 13-5).
Eric Matillo, Todd Cook and James Ferguson combined on a four-hitter, with Matillo earning the pitching win.
