Two small children were struck and critically injured by a car as they tried to cross busy Pacific Coast Highway in Pacific Palisades. Los Angeles County lifeguards said their mother and 12-year-old sister were also injured, but less seriously, as they attempted to cross the highway in the 15000 block. The mother and elder child were treated for minor injuries at the scene but the 2-year-old boy and 5-year-old girl were taken by ambulance to UCLA Medical Center, where they were admitted to the intensive-care unit.
