A 4-year-old Van Nuys boy abducted from his home more than two years ago has been found living in a Chicago suburb with his mother and grandmother, the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office reported.
The report said police in Illinois arrested Audrey Christine Nelson, 28, formerly of Glendora, in the abduction of her son, Joshua Guerino. The boy’s grandmother, Audrey Maxine Nelson, 52, formerly of Canoga Park, also was arrested, the district attorney’s report said.
The district attorney’s office Monday filed two counts of felony child stealing against the mother and one count against the grandmother. The women are being held by Illinois police pending an extradition hearing.
The charges accuse the women of grabbing Joshua on Jan. 20, 1984, from in front of the house of the boy’s father, Johnnie Dean Guerino, 35.
The boy was spotted while living with his mother and grandmother in Glennellyn, Ill., according to John Neustice, an investigator for the district attorney. Neustice said he tracked the two women and Joshua through Texas, Colorado and New Mexico.
