An adult male killer whale named Winston that has been a part of Sea World for at least 20 years died Monday, a Sea World official said.
Although complete results of a post-mortem examination will not be available for some time, early indications are that the death was attributable to old age complicated by kidney failure, said Dr. Lanny Cornell, vice president and zoological director of Sea World.
Said to be at least 30 years old, Winston came to Sea World from Windsor Safari Park in England in 1976, said Cornell. The Safari Park captured him in the western Pacific Ocean in 1968, Cornell said.
