A field of five headed by Palace Music and Clever Song was entered Friday to run in today’s $150,000-added John Henry Handicap at Hollywood Park.

Palace Music will be ridden by Bill Shoemaker and was assigned high weight of 122 pounds for the 1 1/8-mile race on Hollywood Park’s turf course. Clever Song will be ridden by Fernando Toro and was assigned 118 pounds.

The race was formerly called the Century Handicap, but renamed this year in honor of thoroughbred racing’s all-time leading money winner.

Coincidentally, it was announced earlier this week that John Henry, who is now 11 years old, apparently will be making a comeback later this year, according to his owner, Sam Rubin.

Others entered in today’s race for 3-year-olds and up were Roo Art, who will be ridden by Luis Ortega and was assigned 116 pounds; Rich Earth, who will be ridden by Chris McCarron and was assigned 112 pounds, and Little Look, who will be ridden by Eddie Delahoussaye and was assigned 112 pounds.

If all five entries go to the post, the total purse will be $159,200 and the winner will collect $91,700.
