Local News in Brief : Arrest Warrant Issued in Slaying of Girl, 3
The Los Angeles Police Department said Sunday an arrest warrant had been issued for a man suspected shooting and killing a 3-year-old girl, wounding her mother and dumping their bodies alongside a North Hollywood street.
Martha Garcia, 27, of North Hollywood, and her daughter, Cathy Velasco, 3, were found by police officers about 9 p.m. on April 22 in the gutter in the 7200 block of Case Avenue.
Garcia remains in serious condition at St. Joseph Medical Center in Burbank. Her daughter died April 24 at Childrens Hospital in Hollywood.
Police Detective Howard Landgren said investigators were seeking Reyes Rosales, 29, of Central Los Angeles. The detective refused to say why investigators believe Rosales shot the woman and her daughter.
