Encinitas Boy Dies After Car Hits Tree
RANCHO SANTA FE —
A 16-year-old Encinitas boy died Monday morning at Scripps Hospital in Encinitas about an hour after the car he was driving went off a road and struck a tree.
Jonathon Michael Loomis, a senior at Torrey Pines High School, was driving south on La Noria in Rancho Santa Fe when he apparently lost control of his car, San Diego County Deputy Coroner Robert Engle said. Loomis suffered “massive head and chest injuries” and was pronounced dead at 9:45 a.m., shortly after his arrival at the hospital, Engle said.
