Huntington Beach : Woman Critically Hurt in Head-On Accident
A 26-year-old woman was critically injured early Saturday morning after her car was struck on Pacific Coast Highway by a man later arrested on suspicion of felony drunk driving, police said.
The woman, Helen J. Hagen of Huntington Beach, was taken to Fountain Valley Regional Hospital, where she was listed in critical condition.
The driver of the other car was identified as David Way, 31, of Newport Beach. He was reported in serious condition at Fountain Valley Regional Hospital.
Police Sgt. Ed Deuel said that Way’s car was westbound on Pacific Coast Highway near 9th Street at about 2:20 a.m. when it crossed the raised center divider and struck Hagen’s eastbound car head-on. Her car was entering the left turn lane at the time, Deuel said.
