Amerlinck Gets Only Chapman Tennis Victory
Chapman College’s unseeded Olivier Amerlinck was the only Panther to get past the first round at the NCAA Division II individual tennis championship at Cal State Northridge Thursday.
Troy Turnbull, Chapman’s No. 1 player, and John Kline both lost in the first round.
Amerlinck, a freshman from Belgium, advanced to the second round by defeating Claes Egnell of Northeast Missouri State, 6-4, 7-6. He defeated Chris Langford of Stephen F. Austin University, 6-2, 6-2, in the second round.
Amerlinck (34-9) plays No. 4 seed Khalid Outaleb of the Florida Institute of Technology in the third round today with the winner advancing to the quarterfinals Saturday.
