A construction company employee doing night work on a freeway on-ramp was killed by a hit-and-run driver Friday, the California Highway Patrol said.
The 10:10 p.m. accident occurred on the southbound Interstate 15 on-ramp from eastbound California 94. David Johnson, 38, an employee of the S.A. Healey Co., apparently was working to close the ramp when he was hit, the CHP said.
Johnson died at Mercy Hospital.
Witnesses told police the hit-and-run car was a dark Camaro or Firebird with windshield and front-end damage.
