Albeck Fired in the Bulls’ Ninth Coaching Shakeup in 10 Years
The Chicago Bulls fired Stan Albeck Monday and began looking for a new coach for the third time in three years, the ninth time in the last 10.
Bulls chairman Jerry Reinsdorf hinted that the club already is negotiating with a successor. A source close to the negotiations, who asked not to be identified, said the Bulls will hire former Philadelphia 76er star Doug Collins later this week.
“I have an idea of how the game should be played, and I’d like to try it,” Reinsdorf said. “I thought we had agreed in that concept, but it became clear that we had not. My concept is no isolation, no one-on-one, very little dribbling and a tenacious defense.”
Albeck called the club’s management “inept.”
