Shahrastani Wins Epsom Derby

EPSOM, England —
Shahrastani, owned by the Aga Khan and ridden by Walter Swinburn, held on over the final half-furlong to win the 207th running of the Epsom Derby today.
Favored Dancing Brave was second and Maskour third in the 1 1/2-mile English classic. All three are American-bred, and Shahrastani’s sire, English Triple Crown winner Nijinsky II, also sired Kentucky Derby victor Ferdinand.
