A second suspect has been arrested in the murder of Maria Andrea Malmgreen, the 38-year-old wife of a Los Angeles police detective, whose body was found April 22 in the back seat of her car in Fullerton. Arraignment of David Scott Pickering, 21, who was arrested on a warrant at his home in Brea, was delayed to allow relatives to arrange for a private attorney, north Orange County Municipal Court officials said. Fullerton Police Capt. Donald Bankhead said the district attorney’s office has advised him not to discuss details, beyond saying investigators “were able to tie (Pickering) in with the other suspect,” Scott Michael Katzin, 19, a transient, who was arrested near the murder scene. Like Katzin, Pickering is being held without bail. Jerry Pickering, the suspect’s father, said: “He’s innocent, and that’s all I want to say.”
