A Los Angeles mother was arrested on suspicion of murder when her car accidentally struck and killed a 16-year-old girl instead of a neighbor whom she was trying to run down, police said. Investigators said June Singleton, 26, had left her home in the 2300 block of East 107th Street after an argument with the man she was living with, but returned a few hours later to get her 7-year-old child. A neighbor, identified as Luther Britt, tried to keep her from entering the house and fired a bullet through the windshield of her car, police said, but instead of being frightened away, Singleton drove the car toward Britt at high speed. He jumped out of the way, however, and the vehicle hit Suki Jones, 16, who died a few hours later.
