Pat Williams ended his 12-year tenure as general manager of the Philadelphia 76ers to become president and part owner of an Orlando, Fla., group that is seeking an NBA franchise.

Williams left the 76ers after announcing only Tuesday what he called “the most dramatic day of trading in the history of this organization,” referring to the 76ers’ beating the midnight pre-draft trade deadline by sending Moses Malone to Washington and their No. 1 pick to Cleveland, eventually winding up with Jeff Ruland, Cliff Robinson and Roy Hinson.
