Air-Stripping Tower in North Hollywood
The public hearing which was held on May 12 in North Hollywood regarding the air stripping tower for water purification was not widely advertised. Neighbors to the proposed tower were not notified.
Why allow any hazardous substances to be blown into our air when technology is available to purify our water with a method which will not allow any contaminants to enter our air? There is no need to determine the level of risk when there is no risk.
Ozonation is a viable alternative to the old-fashioned method of aeration, and I am told it is much less expensive.
Ozonation will be used to purify Owens Valley water by the Department of Water and Power in Sylmar. If they proved it OK for Sylmar, why not for North Hollywood? Over 2,000 cities around the world use ozonation to treat water. Isn’t it good enough for North Hollywood?
I don’t want any more bad air than we already have, especially when we have a choice of not putting any contaminants into the air. Our North Hollywood air.
