AND WAIT, THERE’S MORE: At first, we thought we were crazy when every time we turned on the radio we were hearing Kenny Rogers’ Chrysler ad, “The Pride Is Back.” As it turns out, we’re only half-crazy. The song was such a success as an ad that it’s been released as a single by RCA Records. . . . Paul McCartney has been working on a new album (tentatively due out early this fall), which is expected to feature cameo appearances by Pete Townshend and Phil Collins on a song called “Angry.” . . . Meanwhile, Hall & Oates have been busy on separate projects. Daryl Hall has a solo album due out in August (with Eurythmic Dave Stewart) called “Three Hearts in the Happy Ending Machine.” And John Oates has been producing an EP by the Parachute Club, which is slated to feature an Oates duet with Parachute Club vocalist Lorraine Segato on a track called “Love is Fire.” . . . Suzanne Vega is working on a new record with Let’s Active’s Mitch Easter. . . . And R.E.M. will be out touring behind its new album, “Life’s Rich Pageant.” Watch for the band to play a night (perhaps even two) at the Greek Theatre at the end of September.
