Share

A Burbank man pleaded not guilty Monday to charges that he robbed a North Hollywood Sears store last month, then stabbed three employees who confronted him outside, authorities said.

Loui Peter Rudas, 35, was charged in San Fernando Municipal Court with one count of armed robbery and three counts of assault with a deadly weapon, Los Angeles Police Detective Mike Coffey said.

Members of a Los Angeles Police Department unit known as the Cobra Corps arrested Rudas on Wednesday as he drove from his house on the 500 block of Glenwood Place, Coffey said.

The stabbings occurred June 12 as two security guards and the manager of the store’s automotive department tried to stop a man carrying a box of electric razors from the store in the 12100 block of Victory Boulevard, Lt. Ron LaRue said. After stabbing the employees, the man escaped through an alley behind the building, LaRue said.

The victims are recovering, Coffey said.

A break in the case came June 27, when police received an anonymous tip based on a composite drawing of the suspect, Coffey said. The tip led police to Rudas, Coffey said.

Rudas is in Los Angeles County Jail on $150,000 bail, authorities said. His preliminary hearing is scheduled July 28.
