Pomona : Credit Application Gets OK

Despite objections from Councilwoman Donna Smith, the City Council has authorized City Administrator Ora Lampman to sign Pomona’s application for an American Express corporate credit card. By a 4-1 vote, the council adopted the resolution, which Lampman said was necessary for the city’s application to be accepted by American Express.

The municipal credit card, which would list as signatories all five council members as well as Lampman and Community Development Director Sanford Sorensen, would be used to pay for expenses incurred by council members and administrators while on official city business, Lampman said.

Smith said that she understands the need for the credit card, but does not want Lampman to have one because she is displeased with his performance as city administrator.
