Local News in Brief : Separate Fires Damage Home, Gut Laundry

A fire believed to be of suspicious origin caused extensive damage to a house in exclusive Hidden Hills and a second fire gutted a self-service laundry in Sun Valley, authorities said Saturday.

A greater alarm fire broke out at 8:30 p.m. Friday in a home in the 24000 block of Long Valley Road, causing an estimated $200,000 damage to the attic, roof and contents in a new addition, Los Angeles County Fire Capt. Michael Singer said.

Two firefighters were treated at the scene for minor injuries. One suffered a neck burn and the other twisted his knee, Singer said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, he said.

The second fire, which caused an estimated $100,000 damage to Sun Valley Laundromat, in the 8000 block of South Vineland Avenue, broke out at 2:46 a.m. Saturday.

No injuries were reported.
