Regardless of whether he plays in the All-Star Game or not, Wally Joyner is having an all-star rookie year with the California Angels, piling up home runs, hits and runs batted in.
Joyner was one of the leading vote-getters in balloting for the 57th All-Star Game to be played Tuesday in the Houston Astrodome. ABC will carry the action, beginning at 5 p.m. (Channels 7, 3, 10, 42).
Al Michaels, Jim Palmer, Tim McCarver and Don Drysdale will be reporting for ABC. Dick Howser of Kansas City and Whitey Herzog of St. Louis are the All-Star managers.
