A Ventura man died in the crash of a light plane on the western outskirts of Santa Paula in Ventura County. The body of Bob Cherno, 45, was found in the single-engine Grumman-American after another pilot spotted the wreckage, Sheriff’s Lt. Mike Gullon said. Cherno had dropped off a friend in the San Diego County community of Ramona and was returning to Santa Paula, where he was an employee of Flight Technology, owner of the plane. The cause of the crash was under investigation by federal aviation officials, Gullon said.
