Golf Roundup : Bradley Makes Move, but Ku Still Leads

South Korea’s Ok-Hee Ku, a rookie on the U.S. ladies’ golf tour, shot a second four-under-par 68 Friday to hold off Pat Bradley and retain the lead after two rounds of the $275,000 LPGA Boston Five tournament at Danvers, Mass.

Ku has a 36-hole total of 136 on the short but exacting Tara Ferncroft course.

That gave her a one-stroke advantage over Bradley, the 1986 LPGA money leader who applied the pressure with a 66, finishing an outstanding round with an eagle 3 on the 485-yard 18th hole.

Rookie Deb Richard, a former U.S. Amateur champion, was third, two strokes off the pace. Richard had a 68 to go with an opening 70 on the 6,008-yard course.

Russ Cochran shot a three-under-par 67 and took a one-stroke lead with a 133 after two rounds of the $400,000 Hardee’s tournament at Coal Valley, Ill.

While Cochran birdied three holes and shot par on the rest, Bob Lohr, the first-round leader, had driving problems that led to a double bogey at the 16th hole and a round of 71. He fell into a five-way tie for second at 134 with Curt Byrum, Edwardo Romero, Jeff Sluman and Mark Wiebe.

Charlie Owens shot a four-under-par 67 to take a one-stroke lead over Chi Chi Rodiguez, Bruce Crampton, Ben Smith, Gene Littler and Jim Ferree in the first round of the Greater Grand Rapids Senior Open at Grand Rapids, Mich.
