Fiesta Bowl to Sponsor a Race for Indy Cars
The Fiesta Bowl and Phoenix International Raceway announced that they will co-sponsor a 200-mile race for Indianapolis-style cars here in October.
The event will be the first of 48 Fiesta Bowl-related activities leading up to the annual football game Jan. 1.
The Phoenix-based Circle K Corp. will provide corporate backing for the Oct. 17-19 race that will be called the Circle K Fiesta Bowl 200.
Circle K is owned by Phoenix resident Karl Eller, who served as the Fiesta Bowl’s president in 1974 and is a life member of its board.
Terms of the agreement were not immediately available but the Phoenix Gazette said the Fiesta Bowl’s involvement may help it realize as much as $75,000.
