The use of fake firearms in a threatening manner has been banned by the Anaheim City Council. Under the ordinance, approved unanimously and believed to be the first of its kind in California, a violator could be jailed for up to six months and fined up to $1,000. Orange County law enforcement officers generally approved of the ordinance, which according to Assistant Anaheim City Atty. Mark A. Logan fills in the gap in existing statutes. Those laws already deal with fake guns in rapes, kidnapings and robberies, but do not cover many other crimes, Logan said.
