Martina Navratilova, the star attraction, and Chris Evert Lloyd each swept their final 10 games against Spanish teen-agers Wednesday to carry the United States into the quarterfinals of the Federation Cup.

Navratilova, continuing to draw huge crowds and constant applause on her triumphant return to Czechoslovakia, defeated 14-year-old Arantxa Sanchez, 6-3, 6-0, after Lloyd, who sat out Tuesday’s first round because of a knee injury, beat 16-year-old Maria Llorca, 6-1, 6-0, in just 52 minutes.

Navratilova then teamed with Pam Shriver to rout Llorca and Ana Almansa, 6-0, 6-1, to complete a 3-0 victory.

The Americans drew a near-capacity crowd of about 7,000 for their two singles matches on the Center Court at Stvanice Stadium in Prague.

In contrast, Czechoslovakia was playing on the adjoining Court One, and that facility, containing some 800 seats, was three quarters empty.

The United States plays Friday in the quarterfinals against eighth-seeded Italy, which eliminated Yugoslavia, 2-1.

Czechoslovakia, seeded No. 2 behind the United States, defeated Switzerland, 3-0; No. 5 Bulgaria beat France, 2-1, and Australia edged Denmark, 2-1.

However, Canada, seeded No. 4, was upset by Austria, 3-0, as Carling Bassett, suffering from cramps during the second set, lost to Petra Huber, 2-6, 6-3, 6-4.

In a couple of individual shockers, West German Claudia Kohde-Kilsch, ranked No. 5 in the world, lost to No. 89 Niege Dias of Brazil, 6-2, 6-4, and No. 58 Mercedes Paz of Argentina fell to No. 322 Jeong-soon Lee of South Korea, 7-6, 6-2.

However, the No. 3-seeded West Germans and No. 7-seeded Argentines were able to overcome the losses to post 2-1 victories.

Nigeria’s Nduka Odizor, ranked No. 93 in the world, stunned top-seeded Tim Mayotte, 6-4, 6-2, in the opening round of a $125,000 tournament at Livingston, N.J.

Odizor is ranked No. 93 in the world, 83 places behind Mayotte, who scored the deciding victory for the U.S. Davis Cup team against Mexico last weekend,

“Winning at Queen’s Club, getting to the quarterfinals at Wimbledon and losing (9-7) in the fifth set to Ivan Lendl and then the pressure of Mexico was just too much,” Mayotte said. “I just didn’t have it. I had no will to go a third set.”

At Brookline, Mass., temperatures in the 90s at Longwood Cricket Club forced two Peruvians, 11th-seeded Jaime Yzaga and 12th-seeded Pablo Arraya, to withdraw in mid-match.

Yzaga, who had a bad right shoulder, defaulted to Sweden’s Henrik Sundstrom with the score at 6-1, 3-6, 4-1. Arraya, who had a touch of the flu, quit against Yugoslavia’s Marko Ostoja with the match at 6-2, 2-0.
