A small earthquake centered about 10 miles north of the San Fernando Valley jolted some residents of the Santa Clarita Valley awake late Thursday night but no damage or injuries were reported. The temblor, registering 3.3 on the Richter scale, was felt most intensely in the Canyon Country area, authorities said.

Deputies at the Santa Clarita Valley sheriff’s station reported receiving about 25 calls from startled residents shortly after the quake struck at 10:44 p.m. The quake, however, was not strong enough to be felt at the station, deputies said.
