Negotiators for the city and 7,000 striking municipal employees completed an involved review Sunday of a lengthy tentative agreement, forcing a delay in a scheduled ratification vote.

Both sides also met for more than six hours Saturday to put the final touches on the 70-page tentative contract to end a walkout by 7,000 city employees and 5,000 strike sympathizers. The ratification vote, expected to begin Sunday, was put off until this morning to give city and union officials enough time to examine the proposed agreement.
