Hamada Shoots 68 to Win in Japan
Japan’s Mitsuko Hamada shot a four-under-par 68 for a six-under-par 210 total Sunday and won the $161,300 Stanley women’s golf tournament by a one-stroke margin over Wu Ming-Yeh of Taiwan and Shihomi Suzuki of Japan.
The 28-year-old Hamada, who started Sunday’s final round two strokes behind Suzuki, carded five birdies on the 6,230-yard, par-72 layout of the Kosaido Saitama Golf club. Hamada received a top prize of $25,500.
Suzuki shot a 71 for a 211 and shared second place with Wu, who had a 69 on Sunday. Each received $10,800.
