4.4 Aftershock Hits Oceanside
An earthquake registering 4.4 on the Richter scale shook parts of Orange and San Diego counties early this morning, but no injuries or damages were reported.
The 1:18 a.m. temblor was centered 28 miles southwest of Oceanside in the Pacific Ocean, said Dennis Meredith, a Caltech spokesman. The epicenter was in the same area as that of a 5.3 quake that struck July 13, injuring more than a dozen people, including one San Diego man who was buried under tons of books in his home.
