Bradley University basketball players have urged the school president to retain Coach Dick Versace after next season, hinting that some may transfer unless he returns.
Versace, who led Bradley to a 32-3 record last year, was given a one-year contract that will not be renewed after the 1986-87 season because officials at the Peoria, Ill., school said he misled NCAA investigators who were looking into recruiting violations.
The NCAA restricted Bradley basketball coaches from making recruiting trips for one year and banned the team from postseason play for one year.
