NICK’S HOT TIX

Share

The backtracking of the Ahmanson Theater on the Hot Tix policy for “Nicholas Nickelby” is indicative of the short-sighted view of theater in Los Angeles (Stage Week, by Sylvie Drake).

New York and London place available seats daily for half-price. This allows many people to attend the theater who could not pay full fare.

The fact that some people called to protest the Hot-Tix policy even though it only involved balcony tickets was petty, but the Ahmanson giving in to this is incomprehensible. There will be two empty seats in the balcony that could have been filled by an ardent theatergoer who cannot afford $100-$200 for a couple, plus parking, baby-sitting, dinner, etc.
