Duvalier Bank Accounts Frozen by N.Y. Court

NEW YORK —
A judge froze two bank accounts belonging to the wife of deposed Haitian dictator Jean-Claude Duvalier, which Haiti believes contain $415,000 in misappropriated government funds.
Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Stanley Ostraw’s order Wednesday came in response to the latest Haitian government effort to recover an estimated $400 million Duvalier is believed to have funneled out of the impoverished Caribbean country.
