A transvestite who struggled with police who stopped a car in which he was riding stopped breathing in a jail holding cell and died at a nearby hospital, police reported. Police said that while the man, who has not been identified, was being questioned in a motel parking lot about an alleged solicitation of a sex act, he hit and bit a police officer. Police subdued the suspect and placed him in a holding cell at the 77th Street Division jail. “A few minutes later it was determined he did not appear to be breathing,” according to LAPD Lt. Charles Higbie. He was taken to Daniel Freeman Memorial Hospital, where he died. The cause of death has not been established; police have released the three others who were in the car.
