Hiker Finds Slain Sylmar Man in Park

A Sylmar man was found shot to death Monday evening along Pacoima Canyon Road east of Veterans Memorial Park, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department reported Tuesday.
A hiker discovered the body of Edward Gallegos, 34, lying behind a 1979 Triumph in the remote area north of San Fernando, Deputy Chris Robbins said.
“The victim had been shot numerous times with a small-caliber handgun,” Robbins said. No other information about the slaying was available, he said.
