PGA Championship winner Bob Tway left Toledo, Ohio, with the silver trophy but without about $10,000 worth of cash and jewelry that was stolen from his golf bag during Monday’s final round.
Tway, 27, said he left a $9,000 watch, a PGA money clip with about $300 in cash, a ring worth $400, his driver’s license and credit cards in a cloth bag zipped into a pocket of his golf bag Monday during the final round at the Inverness Club.
He realized the valuables were missing when he reached for them just before the awards ceremony.
They may have been stolen at the 18th hole during the commotion after his dramatic, two-stroke win over Greg Norman, Tway said.
