No charges will be filed against Monterey Park City Councilman Cam Briglio, police said, because he was responding to an “immediate threat” when he drew a gun and shot at one of two robbers in a Chinese restaurant. Briglio, 54, who has a permit to carry the weapon, told officers he was in the Mei Tze Restaurant when the two thieves began shouting and firing into the ceiling and at the customers. One patron was slightly wounded by flying fragments. Briglio said he drew his gun and that one of the robbers fired at him twice. He said he shot back four times, drawing more fire from the bandit. The two men then fled with about $200 in cash taken from the customers.
