A suspected drunk driver plowed his camper truck into a car carrying a young family on a curving two-lane road, killing a man and his small daughter and injuring his wife and another child, Camarillo police said. Patrick Mestayer, 28, died instantly in the head-on collision on Santa Rosa Road just east of the city limits, Sgt. Joe Funchess said. His daughter, Kristin, 3, died at a nearby hospital. His wife, Sally, 28, was hospitalized in stable condition. Another daughter, Sarah, 16 months old, was treated for minor injuries and released to relatives. Sheriff’s deputies booked Sammy Menchaca, 27, of Simi Valley on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter and drunk driving. Witnesses said Menchaca’s truck drifted over the center divider and crashed head-on into the family’s car on a sharp curve, overturning it.
