CLASSIC AID CONCERT SET
The U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees has announced plans for a concert called Classic Aid that it hopes will raise $2 million.
The Sept. 30 concert in Geneva will feature Lorin Maazel conducting the Monte Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra, cellist Yo-Yo Ma, violinist Isaac Stern and other artists.
Performances by the New York Philharmonic conducted by Zubin Mehta and the New Japan Philharmonic directed by Seiji Ozawa will be broadcast on a large screen in the hall, agency spokesman Leon Davico said.
Ticket prices range from $95 for the concert alone to $315 for an evening including dinner.
The concert is to be broadcast in 22 countries, including the United States, and a record will be produced.
